f Deux manuscrits vaticans de la Géographie de Strabon et leur place dans le stemma codicum

Dans cet article sont étudiés deux des témoins les plus importants du texte géographique de Strabon, le Vaticanus gr. 1329 et l’épitomé du Vaticanus gr. 482. Ce dernier est rapproché du milieu intellectuel du patriarche Grégoire de Chypre. On étudie en outre, en prenant l’exemple du livre XV de la Géographie, la manière et les choix de l’épitomateur. Enfin, on réaffirme à la suite de Diller et Lasserre que cet épitomé a bien été exécuté d’après un exemplaire de Strabon ayant appartenu à Eustathe de Thessalonique, et on émet l’hypothèse que le Vaticanus gr. 1329, quant à lui, serait le reflet direct ou indirect de l’exemplaire de translittération réalisé dans le milieu de Photios.

This paper studies the two of the most important manuscripts of Strabo’s geographical text, Vaticanus gr. 1329 and the epitome in Vaticanus gr. 482. The latter is linked with the intellectual milieu of the patriarch Gregory of Cyprus. The habits and choices of the epitomator are also studied, in light of the example of book XV. Finally it is maintained, following Diller and Lasserre, that the epitome was actually composed using a copy of Strabo that belonged to Eustathius of Thessalonica, and it is suggested that Vaticanus gr. 1329 reflects directly or indirectly the exemplar of the transliteration made in the circle of Photios.
