Abstract

Les d'Isidore de Séville connurent un très grand succès au Moyen Âge, cette popularité étant prouvée, notamment, par une très abondante postérité littéraire. L'ouvrage, de contenu ascétique, fut majoritairement exploité par la littérature morale et spirituelle, mais cet article etudie trois autres aspects, inattendus, de cette posterité : la présence des dans des prières, des textes hagiographiques et des collections canoniques. Il met aussi en évidence l'importance des emprunts indirects, qui explique la diffusion exceptionnelle de quelques sentences de l'œuvre.

Abstract

The of Isidore of Seville enjoyed a great success during the Middle Ages, and this popularity is proved, in particular, by a very abundant literary posterity. The book, of ascetic content, was used principally in the moral and spiritual literature, but this article studies three other, unexpected, aspects of this posterity : the presence of the in prayers, hagiographical texts and canonical collections. It also emphasizes the importance of indirect borrowings, which explains the exceptional diffusion of certain sentences of the work.
