Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The article discusses the question of the possible autograph of Liutprand of Cremona for the manuscript of the (Munich, BSB, 6388), in light of the objections raised by Hartmut Hoffmann. Such a discussion is of interest because it highlights the different research objectives of the paleographer and the philologist. If the latter is editing a text, he is forced to choose the problematical points by following the criterium of the most economical hypothesis, in other words a probablistic criterium, without claiming to reach absolute certainty.
