La transcription et peut-être bien aussi la compilation des deux plus importants florilèges d'auteurs antiques du xiie siècle sont localisées dans les régions de la basse Champagne et de la haute Bourgogne. Lefut envoyé au pape Adrien IV aux environs de 1158 par Nicolas de Montiéramey en signe de remerciement pour sa réhabilitation, après son exclusion de Clairvaux. Le , transcrit à Sens (ou peut-être à Auxerre) aux environs de 1165, fut vraisemblablement compilé par Jean de Salisbury à l'intention de la chancellerie de Thomas Becket. L'édition de la lettre de dédicace du est accompagnée d'une comparaison du et de sa préface avec la personnalité littéraire et morale de Nicolas de Montiéramey.

Abstract

The transcription and probably the compilation of the two most important twelfth-century florilegia of classical authors is localised in the region of southern Champagne and northern Burgundy. The was sent to Pope Hadrian IV around1158 by Nicolas de Montiéramey as a token of his gratitude for his rehabilitation, following his exclusion from Clairvaux. The , transcribed at Sens (or perhaps at Auxerre) toward 1165, was probably compiled by John of Salisbury for the chancery of Thomas Becket. An edition of the dedicatory letter of the is accompanied by a comparison of the and its preface with the literary style and moral character of Nicolas de Montieramey.
