Prolegomena a una edición del Commentum Brunsianum a Terencio

Bien que l’ouvrage connu sous le titre de Commentum Brunsianum (CB) ait fait l’objet de plusieurs études, il manque une définition du commentaire lui-même basée sur des critères objectifs et historiquement valables. Cette circonstance, due en partie à la nature particulière de ce type de textes, mais peut-être surtout à l’histoire des études sur le CB, constitue un obstacle à la reconstruction de l’histoire de sa transmission et, donc, à la réalisation d’une édition fiable d’un point de vue historique. Dans ce travail, nous faisons un historique de la question qui aide à clarifier ce qui a été exposé à ce jour au sujet du commentaire ; de même, nous proposons une définition du CB qui permet son étude dans une perspective non seulement objective mais aussi pratique et nous offrons, pour finir, quelques données préliminaires pour une future édition du texte.

Although there have been many studies on the so-called Commentum Brunsianum (CB), the commentary itself has not yet been defined on the basis of objective and historically valid criteria. This circumstance, which is due in part to the particular nature of this type of text, but perhaps above all to the history of the studies on the CB, is an obstacle to the reconstruction of the history of its transmission, and, therefore, to the realization of a reliable edition from a historical point of view. In this study we offer a history of the treatment of the text, which helps to clarify what has been said about the commentary in previous literature; we also propose a definition of the CB that enables one to study its transmission from an objective and practical perspective, and, finally, we provide some preliminary data for a future edition of the text.
